Course Outline

This two day introductory course will introduce participants to the vestibular system as well as assessment and management of common vestibular disorders. The course involves a mixture of theory, practical workshops, case study discussion, and video analysis.
Learning outcomes:
•Understand the anatomy and physiology of the vestibular system.
•Differentiate between peripheral / central vestibular conditions and identify “red flags.”
•Build a sound understanding of a range of disorders that can impact the vestibular system.
•Competently assess and treat common vestibular conditions, including BPPV, peripheral vestibular hypofunction and central vestibular dysfunction (incl concussion).
•Deliver appropriate treatment techniques, including progressions.

This 1.5 day advanced course is for clinicians who seek a deeper understanding of assessment, treatment and management of vestibular disorders. Advanced concepts not normally taught at introductory levels will be explored with a mix of theory, practical workshops and case study discussions. There will be a strong focus on the latest literature.
Pre-requisites: completion of an Introductory Vestibular Rehab Course and ideally working clinically with vestibular patients for at least 6 months.

•Anatomy review.
•Advanced BPPV: complex posterior, anterior and horizontal canal.
•Vestibular migraine: assessment, management and current thoughts.
•Ménière's disease.
•Interpretation of vestibular function tests.
•Cervicogenic dizziness: differential diagnosis and treatment.
•Mal de Debarquement Syndrome: an introduction.
•Central vestibular conditions: building on current knowledge.
